cervix mail

A package of ten beautiful cervices arrived in the mail from Lynn. They'll have their little identifying serial numbers sewn on and sent off to Indiana next week with the entire Felt Cervix Project, for the show at the Kinsey Institute.

one bag full

I transported the cervices from A Verb for Keeping Warm to have them on display at my open studios. It's this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15 noon-6:00pm. If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, stop by and knit a cervix or drop one off! 1890 Bryant Street, studio 211 in the Mission.

show

The Felt Cervix Project will be included in the 2012 Kinsey Institute Juried Art Show. I am still accepting cervix submissions through the end of the year and perhaps beyond, but if you want yours included in this show, they will need to arrive by the end of April.

Affordable Health Care Act

Today marks the second anniversary of the day the Affordable Health Care Act was signed into law. As someone who went without health insurance while raising a child and had to weigh the cost of a doctor's visit with how much money was in the bank, I celebrate this step towards universal health care. It will of course be interesting to watch the developments in the Supreme Court next week as they hear challenges to the law. It is a sad state this country is in that the American ideal of rugged individualism and innovation trumps the collective need to take care of its citizens.
